T. HailstockA Spy Unmasked by Tina Gabrielle was a joy to read. I love historical females who are more than a pretty face. Lady Sophia filled that bill. She's adventurous, intelligent and unafraid -- a perfect match for spy Robert Ware, Earl of Kirkland.I found it particularly symbolic that the book opens with Lady Sophia Merrill and Robert Ware meeting at a masked ball. The wild ride they have through the woods and him unmasking her sets off a series of unfolding events where the villains are unmasked. You'll be surprised when the final face is revealed.Pick this one up and spend some time with it. You'll fall in love with the Earl and want to be Lady Sophia. Tina Gabrielle gives us another reading adventure. Robert Ware, Earl of Kirkland, and Spy, is at a masked ball which happens to be where his 'mission' has brought him. He goes to the library where he is to crack open a safe, locks are his speciality, remove the contents that he was sent to retrieve, and leave. Simple...right... Not when the attractive, fiery red headed female walked into the room. Oh the lovely, persistent, and head strong Sophia Merrill, daughter of the murdered Marquess of Haverton.... From this moment on nothing about this mission will be easy. And did I say she's not even a real red headComplications set in right away and for her safety he takes her back to his superior, Everett Radley, the ninth Marquess of Wendover, to update him on the mission, and the young lady in his sitting room. Now, to Robert's dismay, this unlikely pair are thrown together by Wendover to find the proof behind the murders of inventors, including Sophia's father. With that, they are to spend a week at the suspect's country home for a select few who are members of the Inventors Society, as a newly engaged couple. All she wants is to prove that the Viscount is guilty. All he wants is to work alone. But chemistry prevails, no matter how much he fights it.She realizes very soon that he can jump in and handle any situation without missing a beat, she justs wants to help him find what he needs to convict the ones who are responsible. He jumps in alot when she's around, and she wants to be around alot.The story line has you from beginning to end. The twists and turns are great and the final twist has your mouth dropping. I was surprised and impressed! I am a big fan of regency spy novels and this one delivered. Their love affair did become a little pushed towards the end. It could have used a few more pages for it to blossom a little more naturally for Robert. Even though we knew they would get together, because the chemistry was definately there. This story had a good spy intrigue plot where the romance flows from that. Loved that part. The writing style is a bit lacking, a bit simplistic so that part was only ok. This is a pleasant read which appears to be set up as a trilogy. The second book in the trilogy has been written over a year ago (as of July 2016) and now the author has apparently moved on in a different direction. If she completes the trilogy, I will buy #2 #3.See all 50 customer reviews...
