This book was gripping and page-turning until the end!Not only did you have the thoughts of "Will she fight to save Sean" and "How far will she go to avenge her parent's deaths", but you also have the budding friendship between Claudia and FBI agent Clayton Vaughn. I truly loved Clayton and I have to say he brought tears to my eyes a few times. One time in particular! You have to read to find out!!! *Grabs tissues*"I know we haven't known each other very long, but our relationship means a lot to me. I don't want to lose you, Claudia. I hope we can repair what I've damaged between us.""There's no damage, Clayton, I haven't had a friend since I was thirteen years old. Other than Sean, you're the only person I've trusted since then. I'm not going to give that up. I'm not going to give up on you."This book left me with my emotions all over the place! I was angry, scared, gobsmacked, swooned, heartbroken, and hot and bothered. Everything you need in a good book, right! So many things happen to Claudia in such a short amount of time, but she is a fighter. Even when her world is spinning out of control, she has the will to keep going...even if it means her life is sacrificed."I'm the one who betrayed you by going to the FBI.""You didn't betray me. You saved me."I enjoyed this series sooooo much!! I'm so glad that there are more things to come for the secondary characters. Three books in 1. Very worth it.A female doctor is abducted after work by a criminal to come and tend to his friend's gunshot wound and save that friend's life. So you are captivated by the plot and the storyline possibilities from the first page. She is terrified, and you feel that. Her captor is terrifying, and you get that too. Under tremendous pressure, at gunpoint, Dr. Claudia performs beautifully. Now, you have the classic story, "let me go and I won't tell."It's not until Claudia starts interacting with the gunshot victim that you really start to get the true story. Sean wakes to find this woman handcuffed to his bed and really no memory of what has gone on get the two of them there. The biting dialog is great and expected. His flirtation is cute, and her reaction is what you would anticipate. Makes for great dialog.What isn't expected is the feelings that start to develop between the two of them as the captor keeps them locked in Sean's bedroom for days. Claudia is naturally confused by her feelings for Sean -- he is someone that is keeping her as a prisoner. But he has put his neck on the line for her and saved her life, and she sees something there that makes him not look like such a bad guy. She's scared she has a little bit of Stockholm Syndrome. But when opportunity presents itself, she escapes. Runs from one dangerous situation straight into another one. And just in time, Sean appears to save her life -- again. Then the real feelings and interaction begins.The plot twists and character conflicts make this such an amazing read. It was well written with well developed characters, their feelings, their struggles. The introduction of another possible love-interest who is a true good guy I feel adds to the development of Claudia's character and in my opinion really opens the story up. The sex scenes are great. They are steamy and they make you want to be Claudia.Throughout the entire book, with the exception of the original kidnapper, every character is really trying to do the right thing in the face of very difficult circumstances.The story is a little dark, but that's what makes it so great!I couldn't put this book down. Loved the way everything played out. When I am reading, a lot of times, I am looking for the element of realism. I don't want to read books about everyday life, but I want to be able to read and say, "I could see how that could really happen." I could do that with this book. Would it happen everyday Absolutely not. COULD it really happen in a real-life similar situation ABSOLUTELY! And that is what makes this a wonderful trilogy for me.The author has just published "Impossible: The Companion Trilogy", which is this entire story told from the point of view of Sean, the gunshot victim. THIS IS A MUST READ!!!! You see everything that happens in this original trilogy from the other side -- his motives, his thinking, his feelings. It makes this trilogy that much more powerful.I am adding this book to my favorite books of this year. I read a lot of books in my spare time, so finishing a less than enjoyable book is a waste of my time.This book is so very dark that half way through I could still not detect a glimmer of light. I really have nothing against D/s relationships, but the kidnapping, abuse, Stockholm syndrome symptoms and the all around hopelessness just set me on edge.
